What are other better and cheaper ways to market a local accounting business apart from google adwords?

I posted the following question:
I am a Chartered Accountant practicing in Toronto, Canada and was wondering if google adwords is worth considering as a medium of advertisement in my line of business. I would appreciate if some one who is an accountant or similar kind of service business to share his/her experience

And somebody responded no but there are other cheap alternatives, what are the other better and cheaper ways to market a local business.

Try social media and community marketing.

1) Setup a Facebook page and run paid ads to build a fan base and engage your audience.
2) Post ads on Craigslist.
3) Find related linkedin groups.
4) Find related Google+ groups.
5) Find related forums.
6) Drive organic search traffic via quality link building.

You can go for SEO - search engine optimisation.

Select some keywords for your business which would generate leads for you in case your website is on 1st page for those keywords. You can take reference from Google Planner tool for finalising keywords.

Then select a suitable SEO company and ask for a quote for those keywords.

Keywords for your business won't be very tough to get on 1st page.

You can go for keywords like:

Chartered Accountant Toronto
Accountant Toronto
CA Toronto
etc
