Try to get some links from good quality, relevant pages on other sites to your own site.
Many of the other solutions in the other answers will take a lot of time and effort for almost no return - it's good links that you want.

Social Networking, Blog Marketing, Article Marketing, Social Bookmarking, Forum Commenting. All these are definitely great but very time consuming, I would look for a company to provide these services for you. Good off site would be articles and nothing else. Articles helps website draw in the traffic and improve SEO optimization. That is why places like http://www.iwriter.com/ have become the ultimate content destination for many web masters and bloggers.
