'Poking' on fb is just like giving somebody a nudge.
Or just like saying 'hey!'
So if someone has 'poked' then you should greet him by 'poking' him back. Then it goes on it's like you give a person a nudge and he nudges you back.
Have fun poking! Smile

It is a playful gesture as if you were poked in real life. "hey how are ya?" or "look at me"

In Facebook: a software feature

1. People poke their friends or friends of friends on Facebook for a lot of reasons (ex: just saying hello). When you poke someone, they'll receive a notification.
To poke someone:

1.1. Go to the person's Time line
1.2 Click in the top-right corner
1.3 Click Poke

A "virtual" poke to someone. Could be a way to let them know you're there, to annoy them,... Mostly just starts never ending wars in my situation Tongue

Poke Sends a message to a Persons Inbox Saying That They Have Been Poked it Can Be a Way to Say Hello or To Get Someones Attention its Not a Big Deal Really

Its something you do when you want to communicate with someone but you really don't have anything to say.
If you poke someone then s/he will get notification to poke you back.
