Social media sites are key! Post stuff on your personal Facebook account, make a Facebook and Twitter page for it and tweet lots of people about it. Place advertisements in local supermarkets that have notice boards. You could even tape posters at bus stops and stuff, so people look at them when they have nothing else to do Tongue

Certainly it's worth creating a Facebook page for the business, though the real payoff would be using paid Facebook advertising to send demographically targeted members to that page, you could pick only single women between 18 and 45 who live in London.

The free Google local listing may be one of the more important assets, try searching: hairdressers, London, the A-G labeled stick pin icons are local listings, unfortunately it's hard to get into the top 7 on page 1 of the results for a competitive subject in a large city. Having a business web site, customer reviews on the local page and citations on the many free business directories can all help the ranking, claiming ownership of the listing Google may have already created allows you to customize it with additional category entries and descriptive text which helps search ranking a bit..
