I HAVE THAT EXACT SAME PROBLEM!
I have an android phone and i updated the app but its the same as before the update! But worse. Now when i upload a CLEAR... nice pic... it turns out like 'glitchy'. AND IM REALLY ANNOYED THAT VIDEO WONT WORK! i have the SAME ig camera as before. and when i go to a 'video' i cant play it and its just like a normal pic. It seems that every instagram update has made it WORSE and WORSE. but i Iphone users dont have that problem -_- *sigh* im so close to getting an Iphone.
And sorry its not an answer... but just saying its happening to me too and i have NO clue if you can fix it or not.

"Recording videos is currently supported on devices with Jellybean (4.1) and above. All Android versions can already play videos on Instagram, and we're working around the clock to enable capturing videos on many more Android devices" - Instagram's statement in the Google Play store.

I have software 4.1.3 on my droid and my instagram updated. I have the video button and it records but then it just resets and says "press here to record". smh. I can watch videos but they should fix this soon.

Same thing with me!! I can veiw the videos but when it comes to recording my videos ill be done recording the video but when i try to go to the next page to post it they keep tellin me to record my video!!!!!

I have an LG SPECTRUM by Verizon and I recently updated my Instagram, The video in the stream works fine but I cannot post my own video there is no Video icon. But these are first world problems right. .....

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 and its android 4.1 but It crashes whenever I am trying to post a video on instagram,

Same. I take a video using the camera. I try uploading it on Instagram and after putting a filter and posting it, it crashes. I've tried reinstalling and it is updated to the current version. So frustrating!
