I need the easiest way to hook up my dvr security system to my laptop
H.264 Digital Video Recorder. It has a ethernet plug and it is plugged in. No Manual.

Without knowing which DVR system there is no way for us to know if it has an ethernet port. This would allow you to connect the DVR to a router connected to the internet - Of course, we assume you already know how to configure the router to allow secure connection when you are remote.
And without knowing which computer or operating system, it is impossible to know if you need to use a separate client into the DVR or if you can use a browser with a plugin from the DVR manufacturer.
Other than these details, it is generally not to difficult, but without all the information, it is impossible to help you.

There will be a description of what to do in the manual that came with the equipment.
As " L " indicated, If you are too shy to divulge system's info , then there is not much help available.
