Why is voter turnout in some states so low? - pennys2dollars - 11-10-2012 12:36 AM

1500 people voted in Idaho... that's shockingly low (1 in 1000 or 0.1% turnout). Why?
ugh I mean Wyoming

Michegan had it's second highest turnout in it's history of primaries.

They were busy oiling their rifles for inspection at their local militia meeting.

I believe it's because the republicans don't have a clear cut favorite as a party or main sub section of the party being the conservatives so they don't care who's their candidate just that they beat Obama.

That is a good question. Think about how many people around the world would love to have a vote. Yet the people here have become complacent. And complacency eventually leads to lost of freedoms.

And it has already started.
Your Fourth Amendment rights are systematically being dismantled one piece at a time.

GPS tracking:
Police and government have the ability to tap into your cell phone, smart phone, laptop and navigation device to track your every move, and they can do this without obtaining a warrant. Last year, the Justice Department argued that warrantless tracking is permitted because Americans enjoy no "reasonable expectation of privacy" in their-- or at least their cell phones' -- whereabouts.
Department of Homeland Security (DHS): The DHS recently released a series of terrorist-watch videos "See Something, Say Something" that effectively tell Americans to spy on each other. These video clips depict Americans as terror threats, and then advise citizens to report the behaviors of their fellow citizens
.
Transportation and Security Administration (TSA):
Agents at airports across the country have harassed, groped and terrorized innocent Americans - including small children and the elderly - as they attempt to board airplanes. It is not uncommon to hear passengers complain of strip searches and humiliation, all without due cause.

Social Media Spies:
The Department of Homeland Security makes fake Twitter and Facebook profiles for the specific purpose of scanning these sites for "watch list" words. If you are tagged by DHS, they read your posts and dig into your account to find out who you are
.
Court Decisions:
The Supreme Court ruled on Kentucky v. King that law enforcement have the authority to stage a search and seizure of Americans' property without obtaining a warrant from a judge. And the Indiana State Supreme Court ruled in Barnes v. State of Indiana that police can enter a resident's private property at any time - without a warrant, without suspicion, without reason - and without knocking and announcing their presence!

See it is so low keyed, one day we will wake up and freedom will be gone.

Herb

That's not too surprising. Primaries almost always have lower turnout rates than do general elections.

Republicans blow.

44,000 people voted in the Idaho caucus

That's pretty much par for the course in primaries and caucuses

People have given up because no matter who becomes president nothing changes. Even though Ron Paul is really different most people have no interest in researching any of the candidates because they have been terribly disappointed so many times.

It's like going to your local smorgasbord restaurant and there isn't anything appealing.
