Ill say yeah.he has great poetry, great metaphors.somethin shakesphere would say.he dont talk about hoes, cars, money.he has been in game a long time.he freestyles his lyrics.he has a great work ethic as he has produced lots of features last few years.how to love is a deep song.he has been in the game for a long time and is still relavent.\

drake, roscoe dash, minaj, sean kingston, chris brown, bow wow, meek mill,2chains, gucci mane and others are here today and are good rappers because of lil wayne influence
.i know they good cause they have lots of money, always on billboard, lots of youtube views, facebook likes, twitter followers. lil wayne also has this.
He can also play guitar,do rock music very well as well.he has lots of money,a bugati from his hard work.

He is the tupac ,iron maiden of our era.

No rapper deserves [ musical ] respect. They pose as musicians but none plays any instrument decently. They pose as songwriters but the lyrics they write lack melody and harmony, so it doesn't qualify as music. They pose as poets, and all they write is 'declamation rhymes' .... if any doubt about this, ask Mozart and Chopin about what's music, or ask Shakespeare and Becker about what's poetry. If they would stop posing as artists or poets, and proclaim being 'declaimers of sub-cultural expressions', then they would deserve respect for the honesty and their folkloric value.

I don't listen to lil Wayne. I listen to Slash, Zakk Wylde, and anybody else that can rock a guitar.

I listen to a lot of rap, and I think lil wayne is one of the worst. If you compare him to someone like Nas or Biggie its no contest. He may write his own stuff, but his stuff needs to be good for him to have talent.

No.

Also, Lil Wayne sucks at playing guitar.

its very unfortunate that the people that represent the contemporary hip-hop scene today are people like
lil wayne, drake, minaj, chris brown ect.

I really don't know them enough because they really don't appeal to me but i do have an understanding of them. I believe that as far as selling a product "music" they do a fine good job of it they can sell a product.

but most artists under a major label are missing the point some of the time. They see the music for the business aspect and there is nothing wrong with that. but some artists will only see there work as a product and do what they are told to make there music more widely accepted by following the status quo and/or trending.

I know lil wayne moved up to becoming the owner of his record label company, and also that minaj sells more albums then lil wayne and drake combined in recent news. which im shocked about i find her songs to be very annoying. That being said I feel that many out of contemporary hip hop are seen as some sort of front men for a generation of hip-hop

when hip-hop was once truly seen as musical cultural expression based off reality of those individuals. seeing life through there eyes

Back in the day "MC's" such as Afrika Bambaataa, KRS-One, Eric B. & Rakim, Chino XL are just a few who really paved a way for the hip-hop community

fortunately there are still good hip-hop "MC's" the ones who really broke the plane who are semi mainstream but are still very influential especially those from the Rhymesayers Entertainment label
artists such as Aesop Rock, Atmosphere, Brother Ali, and Grieves.

and up and commers like Darktime Sunshine and El-P are very good

I would say Tupac was an influential rapper, maybe one of the top rappers but i don't think hes the best, but hes one of the most influential for sure. he had good flow, good story telling ability and intelligence.

to answer if lil wayne is talented.... i will say this, he is good at working the business of music, he puts out a lot of production well over 300+ songs... but due to that fact lack of effort into each and every of his songs thus the greater of his songs are in very short.

I really don't think the list of mainstream contemporary hip-hop artists you posted are deserving for there credibility as much as most people say they are. They can manufacture music well but that doesn't register the same as talent..

He gives rap a terrible name, he doesn't even deserve to be called a rapper. His rhymes are like something out of a doctor sues book.

I wouldn't say he's the Tupac of our era. Tupac was actually an intellectual and an poet and was interested in philosophy. Lil Wayne is the opposite, his goal is to corrupt the youth of America and he basically achieved that.
