How did it become common practice for women to wear make-up and not men? - cody coyote - 11-18-2012 01:06 PM

I know men used to powder their face, wear rouge and lipstick, when they wore those white wigs. Why did they stop and why did it continue for women?

In the early 1980s. This is when Kiss and Motley Crue removed their makeup for the last time.

it was a phase in the baroque period, but it was silly and frivolous so they stopped. women have always had high standards of beauty and need makeup to maintain that.

During the industrial revolution, men were put to work in factories where make up was no longer such a good idea.

Its a cyclic thing. Men used to dress like peacocks, now they dont. Women were plainer dressers, now they r the brightly coloured ones. It will swing round again one day, if we last long enough.

Because in nature, males are always the prettier species. We women were jealous, and thought we'd just steal the show for the human race! Wink
