if on my iphone im logged into facebook or snapchat etc. even though its not open on my screen does it use the interent??

Yes, that's why when someone comments or likes your fb status or whatever, u get anotification. Even if you are not on the app atm. However it's a very mall amounts, just enough to notify you. If you receive lots of.notifications then obviously more internat would get used. By logging out, no internet is consumed.
