What percent of the internet is social media?
I am doing a paper that is on social networking and social media. I was wondering what percent of the internet is social media ?

Wrong question: Not a lot of the Internet is social media, but a lot of Internet traffic is from social media.
Explanation: one video streamed from youtube is equivalent to thousands and thousands of facebook messages.... So in percent of weight, size, the internet is mostly medias (videos, images, etc). The traffic is another thing completely. Official numbers can be found using your friend Google! Ads |

Not sure there is a percentage, but here are some facts for you from 2011:

Hi,
I think that nowadays about 45 percent of the Internet is made up of Social Media. It's so as Social Media is made up of many types of websites. They are Photo Sharing Sites like Flickr and Photobucket. Then there are video sharing sites like Yahoo Video and YouTube. Then there are social networking sites like Google+, Corlif and Tumblr.
