Is portraying more gays in our media engineered to reduce social conflict or to make straight men feel weaker?

"Engineered?" That sounds like you think there's some wicked plot or something. Gays and Lezs are just a part of society and in big cities they are often interested or involved in the Arts, so they show up on TV just like they come to people's parties that are open enough to have a variety of friends.

I am a straight man and I do not feel diminished by the portrayal of gay people in the media.

If you're talking about television I can only imagine that it's done in order to get you to buy something...
...but without more specifics I'I'm not sure what that might be. Ads |

I know a middle class gay guy who voted Repubican because he said he was for family values. He' was kind of clueless about what "family values" meant but it sounded good to him.
I know what you mean. MSNBC is going to give a gay woman Dan Abrams' spot right after Keith Olbermann. They are trying to make straight women strong in order to neutralize Americans who are protesting protesters. . |
