Two forces FA and FB are applied to an object?
Two forces FA and FB are applied to an object whose mass is 13.0 kg. The larger force is FA. When both forces point due east, the object's acceleration has a magnitude of 1.00 m/s2. However, when FA points due east and FB points due west, the acceleration is 0.500 m/s2, due east. Find the magnitude of FA and the magnitude of FB.

F = m*a
1) Fa + Fb = 13 Kg * 1.00 m/s2 = 13 2) Fa - Fb = 13 Kg * 0.500 m/s2 = 6.5 solving these two equations yields : Fa = 9.75 N Fb = 3.25 N Ads |

F=ma
(FA+FB) = 13.0x 1.00 = 13.00 (FA-FB) = 13.0x 0.500 = 6.50 2FA = 13+6.50 = 19.50 FA = 9.75N FB = 13.00 - 9.75 = 3.25N |

FA > FB, m = 13 kg
1) FA + FB = ma > FA + FB = (13 kg)(1 m/s2) = 13 N > FA = 13 N - FB 2) FA - FB = (13kg)(0.5 m/s2) > FA = FB + 6.5 N in 1) & 2) FA = 13N - FB = FB + 6.5 N > FB = 6.5N/2 = 3.25 N FA = 9.75N and FB = 3.25N <<<< ANSWER |
