How old do you have to be to have a Facebook ?
My cousin really wants a Facebook page so she can talk to her favorite band and she has been talking to them a lot. Her mom made her one but she lied about her age. She said she was 14 but she's 11. Was it ok for her to do that ?

As far as I'm aware, you are supposed to be 13 to have a Facebook account. Originally you had to be 18. Technically speaking it is wrong to lie about her age, even if the mother did make her the account. But there's hundreds of thousands of people on Facebook who are under 13. As long as the mother knows she's on Facebook and makes sure she doesn't get in any trouble it's fine in my opinion.

The age is 13 and it is never ok to lie about something like this...especially when it was a grownup that did it.

according to the laws in the USA, you have to be at least 13 years old to use facebook and most other social sites, and it's not OK to lie about your age, as that can lead to lots of trouble for kids
