Sending Facebook invites to a wedding as well as official invites in the mail?

As someone who is an avid facebooker, this is the main method of communication for the majority of my close friends. I don't even have all of their phone numbers, but I see them all the time because our groups whole social calendar is practically all on facebook. I had to send a mass fb message just to get all of their addresses so I could invite them to our wedding events.
In order to mitigate the tacky factor, I would send out the paper invites first. Give everyone a week or so to receive them, and then send out a facebook invite. Then, this facebook invite is not an actual "invite" to the wedding, but just another way to keep track of who is coming and who isnt. Those haters here who think its tacky must not understand how much fb is integrated into many people's main method of communication. To me, its better to know if someone is coming or not then to not know, so what does it matter how you find that out. I promise you most people will not reply as requested, so this just makes sure you actually get a response. Go for it & good luck!! |
