i used to shove a piece of wood from an old shelf in between the door and the wall when i wanted privacy inside the house. for the most part though i did not expect privacy as none was assumed. there was at times 8 people living in that house, it was a rare thing to even get to use the toilet without someone asking if you were done yet or shoving you off it before you were done because they had to go. i cried for joy when my dad put in a second toilet. so when even that sort of privacy is unheard of someone not knocking on your bedroom door is nothing.
also something i learned from living in a household like that was that you never wrote anything down, never left any evidence of anything, that you did not want anyone knowing about. diaries were kept in hidden places if kept at all, even then they were written in code with anything incriminating left out entirely. not even a reference. |
