Twitter is a good way of bringing people to your blog, particularly if your blog concerns one particular subject.

Other than that, just make sure that your writing is interesting and grammatically correct. There's a lot of competition in the world of blogging, on almost any subject, so if your aim is to attract readers you have to be clear and engaging, and offer a take on the subject which nobody else offers.
