I have a few friends who's kids have had facebook pages since the day they were born. I think it is stupid so I agree with your girlfriend. There is an age limit on facebook and 0 years old isnt it.
kids should only be allowed a facebook or any other page for that matter when they are mature enough to have one. My son is 8 months old and doesnt have one. And he wont until he is at least 10.
