How do celebrities get verified on Twitter?

Once a celebrity follows @Verified on Twitter, and sends them a mention, that they would like there Twitter to be verified, Twitter responds and tries to find out it this supposed celebrity is an impersonator or the real deal. If it's the real deal, Then they automatically verify that celebrity on twitter. If it's an impersonator, then they simply ignore them. But not just celebrities get verified on Twitter. It can be anyone, You just have to have a lot of Followers, Be kind of known, and Voila! You're Verified!
