Why are people so sensitive?

We all re-evaluate our relationships in our own way. I've deleted Facebook friends when they have proven to me that they have zero interest in me. So, why should I bother with them? I've been accused of being too serious, but I think people should defiantly stand by who they are, as long as they are good people, and I think I'm good.
I deleted a guy because his Mom was in trouble, I told him, but he didn't help. Eff him. But his Mom recovered, I contacted the guy again months later, he gave me his explanation (and he didn't even notice that he'd been deleted by me, by the way), and we are Facebook friends again. Overall, I take the word "friend" seriously, even in the term "Facebook friend". I don't want a zillion friends, so I consider seriously who I like and who I don't care for, and this is re-assessed from time to time. If there's a misunderstanding - and there have been a few - this can be gotten past through communication. Facebook is a fascinating, though incomplete, microcosm for life in a way. Yet, you can avoid face-to-face BS and confrontation. |
