Sure.
The first thing to know about Facebook is that it's privately owned and operated by Facebook, Inc. As of Feb 2012 there are more than 845 million active users worldwide who generate more than $3.71 billion (2011) in revenue to the owners and their 3000+ employees. According to ConsumerReports.org (May 2011) there are more than 7.5 million children under 13 with accounts and 5 million under 10 years old, violating the site's terms of service. As of Jan 2009, Conpete.com ranked Facebook as the most used social networking service by monthly worldwide active users. Entertainment Weekly added the site on its end-of-the-decade-best-of list saying "How on earth did we stalk our exes, remember or co-workers birthdays, bug our friends, and play a rousing gane of Scrabulous before Facebook?" According to Social Media Today, in April 2010 an estimated 41.6% of the US population had a Facebook account. However, Facebook's market growth started to stall in some regions, with the site losing 7 million active users in the USA and Canada in May 2011. On Nov 29, 2011 Facebook agreed to settle US Federal Trade commission charges that it deceived consumers by failing to keep privacy promises.
