Why are some filipino kids so spoiled?

Well, let's take a step back and make sure you're not prejudging those who don't deserve it. First off, I am a Filipino American who has received many things including a car when I was in highschool. I received a lot of attention in highschool because I had one of the nicest cars. Funny thing is a lot of people thought of me as spoiled simply because I had a car I didn't pay for including some of my friends who all worked just to barely buy a decent used car. I told them to ask themselves a couple things.

1) If your parents tossed you the keys to a nice, new car when you were a teenager, would you accept it?

2) If you were a parent and you could afford to purchase your teenage son or daughter a nice new car, would you do that?

For many people the answers would be yes and what else can I say? I see plenty of folks around me who are less fortunate and I feel like I am truly a lucky and blessed individual. I take special care of all my belongings and my parents told me they would always look out for me as long as I stayed in school and kept my head on straight. Now, I am still in college full time and working to pay for all the stuff I want including my iPhone, Macbook, 360 PS3, etc. And they know if they needed my help, I would always go out of my way to help them out. I'm always moving furniture, doing yard work, etc without hesitation because they asked.
