Go to Microsoft, Dell, Windows Club, Ask Leo, or bleeping computer for more detailed advice.
It's a mechanical device, so may be a faulty switch. Or - I had an optical drive that would not open, but was making a noise (trying to). It turned out that the tray had moved slightly inside the unit itself(IE, it had a screw loose!) and was being blocked by it's own case. This is quite possible for you too, especially with a laptop, which gets moved about a lot. In that case, take it to a shop. |
