Which softwares are used to make 'apps' used in Facebook and Google?

You use a text editor and some Javascript knowledge to make the web apps. It could be anything from Notepad to Dreamweaver to Aptana to Vim, it doesn't really matter as long as it can output HTML and Javascript files.
