Keep your eyes open for moments to connect with him casually. At the end of the next club meeting, stop him to say "thank you" for something. Thank you for doing such a good job with the club, or for a suggestion he made. After a week or so, find a moment to tell him you really like his tie, or something. Always walk away after listening to his response to the casual comment to show you're not hanging on him. Get him used to occasionally hearing your voice and seeing your smile. If he's interested, he'll let you know.
