Is there a way for me to temporarily deactivate my Facebook account but still use it when it's deactivated?

Yes, it is.

When it's deactivated, no one can see your profile.

If you log in with the email that is linked to your account, it is activated again. If you want to hide your profile information so that your information is available only when you are online, you can deactivate it again.
