How do I go about reconnecting with an old friend from high school?

We've chatted a few times about random things on Facebook. She invited me to her house back when we were in high school but I said no because I knew my mother wouldn't let me because the girl's parents were divorced and her mother had a boyfriend (my mother thought that any man who would go out with a woman with children was a child molester). I've seen all the things she's doing now and she sounds very interesting. Al my friends from high school have gone into academia and I've gone elsewhere (I run an antiques store). I'm 26. What's a good way to reconnect?
