Why does my new laptop lag sometimes?

Something is hogging CPU cycles.
When the lagging starts:
Ctrl+Alt+Del to open Task Manager
Processes Tab
Open to full screen
Watch to see what is using a lot of CPU Cycles

Search the name of the Process online to see what it is.
If it is a program, consider removing it from Automatic Startup, or uninstall it.

Windows key + R
Type in msconfig and click OK
Startup Tab
