If I unfollow someone that is my friend on facebook, will that person know I unfollowed them?

No, he don't get any notification,so he don't know about it. But if he check his followers list then he may come to know about it. Two types of follower are their public follower and friends follower. All the friends in Facebook are Friend follower, so if he check the friend follower list then he know you have unfollowed him.
