Browser Hijacker/Adware/PUP Removal
One Step that should be done before using ANY malware/adware removal tool No.1 Create a New Restore point Can be deleted after removal is complete Removal: No.1 Run a scan with Junkware Removal Tool NOTE:This tool does a Back-up of the Registry, so doing it manually is no longer needed Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop from the following link: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download...oval-tool/ Double-click to run the tool. For Windows Vista or 7 users, right-click the file and select Run as Administrator The tool will open and start scanning your system Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications On completion, a log (JRT.txt) will be saved to your desktop and will automatically open http://i.imgur.com/2L8roJE.jpg No.2 Run a scan with AdwCleaner Download AdwCleaner from the below link. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ Close all open programs and internet browsers. Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool. Click on "Scan" to start. After the scan, go through the detections to be sure there is nothing you want to keep. Then push "Clean" http://i.imgur.com/WpwGzXo.jpg No.3 Use Malwarebytes' Antimalware to check for any nasty's and to remove any PUP's left Home Page http://www.malwarebytes.org/ Download http://downloads.malwarebytes.org/mbam-download.php NOTE: Decline the Free Trial of Malwarebytes Pro for now. Not needed for detection nor removal. They do that for Free. You may try it at a later date if you so wish NOTE: To have Malwarebytes check for PUP's: Open the program>>Settings Tab>>Scanner Settings On " Action for potentially unwanted programs(PUP)" Click the arrow and change to "show in results list and check for removal" Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Go to Update tab and select Check for Updates. If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. Go to Scanner tab and select (1)Perform Quick Scan, then click (2)Scan. http://i.imgur.com/8QLPzcK.jpg The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient. When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results. Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart Malwarebytes KnowledgeBase https://malwarebytes.zendesk.com/home No.4 Download Security Check to see what security software and other is outdated http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/securitycheck/ NOTE:Any outdated software, please update and remove all older versions.
