Do you think a band can have widespread popularity without ever going on tour or selling music on iTunes?

I was a musician trying to crack it in the industry in the 80's and 90's. It was a hard slog and there was little chance of success due to competition and lack of avenues for promotion.
Now, we still have the competition but you have a plethora of ways you can promote yourself via on online presence. You can have a youtube channel, a Facebook page, Twitter and many other online resources. While this is a great way to promote yourself, you still have to find ways of making yourself stand out from the crowd and connect with YOUR audience. The competition is fierce! There are several books and articles on online/social media that will get you on your way. Like all things it takes research, tenacity and a little lucky for things to go your way. Good luck! Hope it helps. |
