This really is a situation that you need to ask your Supervisor's opinion on. If this is the way this whole thing really went down, it's was negligence on management's part, so only management will be able to fix this

After reading this and all the answers, I see that at least one person had my first thought that you are trying to get control over the site to make the other look bad. I, too, can't imagine any company giving total control over a website to one employee.
