Writing a 5 page college essay. On SOCIAL media. Can anyone help with a good topic starter?

I think your idea may be an interesting thing to observe. I think what you should specify is that social media, as in online media, is restricting active socialization outside of the home, such as picnics/get-togethers/events, etc.
A book that may be considered social media is not one I can name, since most "classics" are out of my reach for now. TT-TT
Can you write about an event that changed a time period? What about television, or perhaps propaganda during the World War eras? I myself am interested in how large organization such as governments can trick people into thinking their way, such as the North Koreans or Germans during WWII.
