First of all, there's nothing wrong with feeling more comfortable when you're alone. You're probably more a introverted person, meaning you feel energized when you're by yourself, and drained when you're around other people. This is completely normal. I'm an introverted person and only prefer to be with a group of 3 people at once, or else I get overwhelmed and stressed. I also don't eat around other people, and my friends think I have some kind of disorder and feel the need to comment about it. As far as relationships go, that's nothing to worry about either. I go on dates but whenever someone wants commitment, I run far and fast.

Everyone's different. Being social and outgoing is just what society and the media portrays as "normal," but there's nothing abnormal about being an introvert.
