Parents won't take me to doctor (scoliosis)?

Your parents should seriously consider consult a doctor familiar with scoliosis. Your scoliosis will need to be monitored the rest of your life. So many medical advances in scoliosis care. It does not mean you need surgery any time soon or even the future,.... just that you need to be monitored for any changes. You will need an xray and maybe an MRI.....both totally painless so not worry. Depending on your particular case you may or may not have pain in the future. Each person is different.

My parents did not seem concerned or know what to do when I was diagnosed in the 1960's......in some ways I am glad they didn't. I suffered all my adult life with back pain & never once thought it was related to the scoliosis. The doctors back then were under the impression that scoliosis did not hurt...wrong.

I had some not so good doctors over the years who did & suggested nothing to help. Finally found a good spine care doctor who monitored the scoliosis, then the curvature started getting worse & my lumbar spine started collapsing & surgery was needed.....had really no choice. I had the surgery at 61 years of age & 18 months post op & doing really really good. Life is Good Smile

There are lots of support groups on facebook for all ages.....just put Scoliosis is the search & you can check them out & see which one is right for you. It really helps to have support of others going through the same thing.
