Adblock still has me confused?

I have firefox and I just download Adblock Plus as an extension and it takes like 2 minutes to get and that's it.
I don't really know the difference between them both, but I've never experienced anything about having to pay and free trials unless that's something to do with internet explorer, but using it with firefox it's completely simple and completely free.
