Using iE (any version) is at best a risk no matter what "extensions" you have.
(Those are a small, add-on 'programs' that compliments the operation of the browser which makes certain functions possible which would not otherwise be available in the 'stock' configuration.)
Allowing all kinds of rubbish back inside has been a continuous problem with iE, such as advertising, 'active scripting', and more.

You would be wise to not use that at all, but get Firefox, or perhaps Chrome.
Either of those can be configured to block all kinds of automatic behavior. Both must be modified beyond the 'stock' settings to attain a solid, safe and ad free state.
