Why are people nicer to those who are well off in life than those who aren't?

Because society (particularly American society with the whole idea of the &quot;American Dream&quotWink promotes this idea that the harder you work, the more you&#x27;ll be rewarded. Sure, it may be true in some cases, but for the most part I notice many people in fortunate situations have hardly worked a day in their life, and people in more desperate situations are often the most selfless and hard-working people out there.

Therefore, people see wealthy individuals as having good strong characters worth respecting, and less fortunate individuals as lazy and undeserving. Couldnt be further from the truth.
