How is capitalism beneficial for the average person if the capitalist gets wealthy off your labour?

Two things your question fails to take into account...
1) The "capitalist" doesn't get wealthy off the average person's labor. The Capitalist gets wealthy when the average person gives the capitalist their money. Why is the 1% the 1%? Because the 99% give them their money...liking paying money to watch rich athletes play a game, or rich actors perform in movies, or buying "upgrades" to software or cellphones we really don't need, or using social media sites like Facebook (or Y!A) that are really not necessary, or buying replacements for things like TV's or cars before the old TV or car is even close to wearing out. 2) In the commonly available alternatives, whether it's Socialism or Communism, the average person doesn't share in any success either. In those cases the capitalist is replaced by "the state" and the 1% is replaced by the Party insiders. Not an improvement in my opinion. |
