Do I need to update Internet Explorer? IE 11 installed automatically; I uninstalled & it went back to IE 9.?

I would download IE 10. You'll get better website compatibility with IE 10. I think that there's better security with it, too, because Microsoft is putting more resources into IE 10 and 11.
My computer automatically updated to IE 11 from IE 10 and I didn't like it due to compatibility issues. I went back to IE 10 and everything's back to normal.
