some questions about Cable and DSL internet?

Some first answer, eh?

No, cable internet speed doesn't depend on distance.

For DSL, it's yes & no. Where distance IS important is the distance from your house to the "switch". If you're within a certain distance, the speed is the same.

For cable, if your "node" (group of other users) is busy, your connection can slow. I have never seen this.
For DSL, your speed doesn't change.

Personally, I vote for cable. You can get a bundle if you also get TV cable service.

Good & bad first depends on where you are. That's what determines your options. You may only have the choice of a couple of ISPs. I've had Roadrunner and Time Warner, both pretty good.

Speed wise, cable can blow DSL out of the water. I average around 8-10Mbs. Occasionally, I see 20.
