on twitter can you leave celebs messages?

right so i went on this celebs page and usually at the side under actions it would say leave this person a message , or something along those lines. anyway it doesnt say that on theres for obvious reasons, so i was mucking about and noticed when you click there bullitens or browse through there messages you can reply to them, so i left a message and the message i sent appeared on my twitter page but not theres. i was wondering if they can see the message? im new to twitter so yeah..on mine it says @___< there name and my message next to it, on theres nothing
on mine under the message it also says 'about one hour ago from web in reply to ______' < celebs name
