Does this guy like me, what should I do?

Okay so there is this guy who friended me on facebook, we had about 180 mutual friends so I accepted. Okay first this isn't dodgy - he is in the grade above me and we go to the same school. I do recognize his face, but have never talked to him, and would be surprised if he recognised me around school. He is also in the year above me. Anyway I accepted his request and then a couple days later he liked this really old photo of me from around two years ago - which is weird because you would have to go through my whole profile to see it, as it is near the bottom. And then about an hour ago he messages me "hey" and I was like hey then he was like whats up and then I just ignored it. Should I have replied, would he be turned off? I do think he is kind of cute but he is in the year above me? Does he even like me or what? And if I reply what should I say?
