This question is extremley broad as there are hundreds of SEO techniques however the most important thing to keep in mind is keyword optimization. Be sure to use keywords related to your content repeatedly within the first 100 words and use attribute tags for your images that contain your keywords.
Obviously there are several other methods, what I will suggest is not to waste too much time on meta tags as Google and Yahoo rarely use them for indexing.
