Is it necessary that I must have internet connection while Norton Antivirus 2006 analysisng my computer?

With the way you framed your question, "...analysing your computer", most certainly you do NOT need an internet connection for the analysis part.

However, norton antivirus is designed to periodically update its virus scanning patterns, & program engines , thus you need an internet connection for this to work.

However, if you play around in the settings or scheduling options in the program, you can change the days and times this updates are performed, (I think it is called LiveUpdate) and once this is performed, the computer analysis can pretty much be performed offline.

However, why do you use Norton antivirus, such a system hog, if it is possible for you, try out Nod32 antivirus, http://www.google.com/url?q=http://www.e...MWNju8AcHw

Much reliable, and less dependence on your system resources.
