A computer virus is a program which can be transmitted between computers via networks (especially the Internet) or removable storage such as CDs, USB drives, floppy disks, etc., generally without the knowledge or consent of the recipient who is actually helping it spread.
Since it is a program then yes it could potentially interrupt your connection to the Internet. I suggest you restart your computer an boot in safe mode then run the anti-virus to see if you have been infected, i would also suggest you delete any files unknown to you that might come up in the anti-virus prompt. I use and recommend Avira: http://www.avira.com/en/download/index.php See this to learn more about viruses: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_virus |
