There are many ways to drive traffic to your website, the quickest is social media. Twitter, Facebook, Google +, and Pinterest are probably the best places to begin. Do not forget to add your URL to bookmarking sites like Delicious as well.
However, it is extremely important to optimize your website for search engines and enter your website into each one you can find, as social media normally only accounts for about 5% of website traffic.
There are thousands of web directories that you should enter your URL in too. I use this list, http://www.web-directories.ws/General/Free/ because the directories are listed along with their Google ranking. A backlink from websites with high rankings helps raise your website's ranking.
Be sure to have social media buttons on your website so that your visitors can share your content also.
Find related blogs and forums and post to them. Do not post messages that are self serving though. If you are helpful and know what you are talking about, readers will want to visit your website.
Submit articles related to your niche to Ezine Articles. Not only will you get an author bio box where you can tell about your site, you will get backlinks that help your ranking with search engines.
Freebies, contests, and prizes also drive traffic to a website.
