Internet connection problems?

I get on my laptop and sometimes when I get on, my internet connection bar will have an error sign over it. After it does that I know I'm gonna be sitting here for a while without being able to get on and do anything. What I dont get is most of the time, everyone else whos on a computer (We're all connected to the same connection and there's 5 other computers in the house, not including my laptop so 6 in total) doesnt have a problem with the internet connection. It seems to be only me. I've tried disconnecting and re-connecting, restarting my computer, refreshing the connection. When we try restarting the router all of the lights go red and then no one can get connected to it and we all end up waiting for a long time for it to start working again. Basically, we have tried everything we can think of. Sometimes, it wont only be me that has a problem and cant connect and then we're all sitting here waiting. It does this kinda often and I'm getting reallllyyy tired of it. How we can get it to stop doing this? Thanks.
