SEO or search engine optimization is the practice of improving your website's visibility in search engines...such as google, yahoo, bing...it's is the most important thing to consider while designing a website...you can use keywords, phrases, sitemaps, links from other sites to your site, and much more to improve your websites visibility

http://www.equalsdomains.com has a tool called Search Engine Visibility.. it crawls your site and tells you where your site needs improvement and gives you suggestions...i highly recommend it
