Friend Finder works by suggesting friends of friends (FOAF)
It looks at your own friends and suggests some of their friends that you might know. If someone has found you via friend finder, it's likely that person knows one of your friends. Maybe you have quite a common name and people are getting you mixed up with someone else. There are lots of reasons why this could happen. When someone tries to add you as a friend, you can look at their profile without accepting (as far as I am aware). Look under the "Mutual Friends" section to see if you have any friends in common with them. That is the usual explanation. Someone added me as a friend once and I didn't know who it was so I just ignored it. I went to a party about 3 months later and that guy was really pissed at me because I didn't add him as a friend on Facebook and I explained I hadn't known it was him. It was a friend of a friend of a friend. |
